The “Police” glove.
As if it's not bad enough having to read about the number of innocent people being injured, or even murdered, by knife attacks we are seeing a situation where our brave Police, yes those on the front line who protect the public, are often confronting criminals armed with knives, with their bare hands.
Yes, we read the figures of how many people are murdered, how many are injured but who reads the statistics for how many are saved from injury by the intervention of our brave Police men and women. Surely it is only right that we give them the right protective equipment to disarm knife wielders in as safe a way as possible. We know that the Police wear anti-stab vests which will protect them if they are stabbed but how are they expected to dis-arm someone carrying a knife without suffering horrible damage to their hands.
This is a problem that we at Bladerunner have been aware of for some time. Everyone knows that we carry a full range of slash resistant streetwear which includes slash resistant T-shirts, slash resistant hooded tops, Kevlar-lined scarves and so many other anti-slash clothing items.
Cut resistant gloves have always figured strongly in our range but now we have designed a new anti-slash glove specifically (but not exclusively) for the Police.
The "Police" gloves that we have designed have undergone a lot of research & development.
These gloves are lined with anti-slash fibre, which is, pound for pound, 15 times stronger than steel, and is cut resistant and stretch resistant. It is one of the worlds’ strongest and lightest fabrics and has been used, for the last 20 years to provide lightweight bullet-proof protection for military and law enforcement body armour.
The gloves come with a Velcro strap with the word “Police” embossed clearly into it. The thumb and index finger have screen friendly panels so that a touch screen phone or computer can be used without having to take the glove off.

All of our anti-slash and anti-stab clothing is tested by authorised and recognised laboratories. The "Police" cut-resistant gloves were tested by a recognised UK laboratory for compliance with standard EN388: 2003. The results were as follows:
Abrasion resistance – method 6.1: Level 4
Blade cut resistance -method 6.2: Level 5
Tear resistance – method 6.3: Level 4
Puncture resistance – method 6.4: Level 2
When considering the above results you should bear in mind that level 5 is the highest level achievable.
We believe that the new "Police" cut-resistant glove marks a turning point in the protection of our Police, security personnel and anyone else who may be placed in a situation where they have to defend themselves against a knife attack.
